Carl comes from a musical family, both his parents are pianists and music featured strongly as he grew up. However despite his love for music, he decided not to pursue it professionally until his late twenties and from that point hasn’t looked back since.
He started studying the drums at the age of 11 and took this instrument up to a high level with studies at both Westminster Education Services and City Collage in Manchester and began to gig with bands regularly for several years. However it was his love for the saxophone which he had begun playing informally which eventually won out and he decided to concentrate on this instrument and undertake a Jazz degree in London to further his musical development.
Since then he has played and performed in many situations from intimate jazz clubs to crowds of 60000 people at festivals. Tours have enabled him to play in some of the most unlikely places including the mostly closed country of Turkmenistan and even a impromptu gig in a remote village of Tajikistan which was only accessible via helicopter.
Today Carl continues to work as a freelance musician and he also teaches too.
